BLOSSBURG, Dec. 21 -- Blossburg V.I.B.E. (Visions in Business & Entertainment) announced the winners of the Light Up the Holidays house decorating contest after judging displays in five categories Dec. 20.

  1. Victorian/best overall: Frank & Phun Wasowicz, 158 St. Mary's Street (Pictured)
  2. Most Christmas spirit: Edmund Bogaczyk 236 N. Williamson Road
  3. Whimsical: Lesley Powers, 140 Davis Street
  4. Modern: Marion Griswold, 111 Lynd Street
  5. Best business display: Window Box Flower Shop, Kathy Hudson (owner), Connie Dawes (helper), 242 Main Street

House and Business Decorating Contest

Decorate your house or business storefront for the holidays and maybe you’ll win a prize from V.I.B.E.! Light Up the Holidays judging will be held Dec. 20, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. everywhere in the borough of Blossburg. Prize donations are welcome - contact Kelly Rossell, kelly.rossell@gmail.com, 570-337-8770.

The "Light up the Holidays!" contest is free of charge and open to every resident of Blossburg. Residents are encouraged to decorate to the following themes:

  1. Victorian Theme (which would include the Old Style Country Christmas Decorations.)
  2. Modern Theme (which includes all the new modern items, inflatable characters and lighting.)
  3. Whimsical Theme (which includes the ginger bread or candy cane lanes, elves and so on.)
  4. Most Christmas Spirit Theme is obviously the place that just stands out with the greatest feeling of Christmas magic and warmth.
  5. There will also be a theme for the Best Christmas Store Front Window Display. A prize will be awarded for each of the listed themes above. Judging is scheduled for December 20 at 7pm.
