Happy birthday to Allison Frost, who will be 13 on September 8th. You may recall that Allison was born prematurely, weighing just 1 pound, 11 ounces. Several area newspapers and television stations carried the story of her miraculous survival. She was a Children's Miracle Network baby and a March of Dimes Poster Child. Her parents are Jacqueline Knott of Wellsboro and Lonny Frost of Blossburg.
Another Blossburg resident celebrating this week is Nathan Kinsey. If you see Nathan on the 17th, wish him a happy 12th birthday!
6-year-old Logyn Choplosky (son of Jill and Mike) broke his femur last weekend. He will be in the hospital for a couple more weeks with a rod in his leg. Following his discharge, he must be in a body cast for four months. Logyn will be unable to attend school, and cannot participate in the sports that he loves, especially his Screaming Eagles pee-wee football. Please keep the Choplosky family in your prayers. Donations to help the family with mounting medical bills and travel costs are greatly appreciated. You may send cards, gifts, and donations to: Logyn Choplosky, Williamsport Hospital & Medical Center, Room 219, 777 Rural Ave, Williamsport, PA 17701.
Hillside Rod & Gun Club will have a chicken barbeque at their facility on the Morris Run road on Sunday, September 6, from 10:30 until noon. Sleezy Construction is doing the cooking, and the results are always delicious!
The Blossburg Elementary School will hold a Family Night and Open House on September 9, from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.. Come and enjoy many family-oriented activities, meet other parents and the school staff, and browse through the Book Fair. Visit http://www.southerntioga.org/documents/FamilyNightLink11-7-07.doc to view some photos from a past Family Night.
While you're at the school, make sure you see the Cub Scout display. Pack 2059 invites all boys in grades 1 through 5 to join their Pack. They are a very active group, as is evidenced by their frequent appearance in this column and throughout the local news. For more information about Pack 2059, contact Lorraine or Kelly Thompson at 723-0916. To see some of their past activities, visit https://cubscoutpack2059.clubspaces.com.
Studio B, next to Acorn Markets, is offering more fitness classes this fall. The first class is "Fabulous Fall Fitness" and will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00 PM, from
September 14 until October 21. The classes include stretching, toning, cardio and muscle training. This is a great opportunity to get in shape before the Holidays. Another class being offered is the new "Mommy and Me" series. If you have a baby (and the baby weight) this class is for you! The class will include stretching, toning and exercises for Mommy and baby (infant to age 3), so forget about hiring a babysitter. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:15, from September 15 until October 20. For more information or to enroll, call Linda Blasz at 404-4271.
On September 19, there will be a "Pool Together" 5K race to benefit renovations at the Bloss Pool. The 3.1 mile course is mostly level and consists of paved and gravel surfaces. Entry forms are available for printing at blossburg.org. Click on the Pool Together 5K Run link. Become an official sponsor of this event by donating $50 or more. Your name will appear on the official race T-shirt, and you will receive one or more free shirts, depending upon the size of your contribution. Contact Pete Hall at the pool or call Susan Blackwell (638-1210 or lys@laurelhs.org) for more information. You may send donations to Blossburg Swimming Association, 123 South Williamson Road, Blossburg, PA 16912.
