Belated birthday greetings go out to Reed Zimmer, whose birthday was August 31. Reed is the owner of Zimmer's Tree Farm on the Cherry Flats Road. Happy birthday to Zackary Onks of Blossburg, who will celebrate on September 8.
Sandy Roupp and Erma Cretsinger were both able to come to church this past Sunday. It was wonderful to see them both doing better. They are grateful for the cards, calls, and prayers that have helped them through their recoveries.
Don't miss the Blossburg Farmers' Market this Saturday. Last week, there was a beautiful display of large potted mums, delicious cantaloupe, and a bountiful choice of locally-grown vegeetables, including purple beans!
The Blossburg Elementary School will hold a Family Night and Open House on September 9, from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.. Come and enjoy many family-oriented activities, meet other parents and the school staff, and browse through the Book Fair. While you're at the school, make sure you see the Cub Scout display. Pack 2059 invites all boys in grades 1 through 5 to join their Pack. They are a very active group, as is evidenced by their frequent appearance in this column and throughout the local news. On September 19, there will be a 5K race to benefit the pool renovations. The entry fee is $15.You or your business can be an official sponsor of this event by donating $50 or more. Your name will appear on the official race T-shirt, and you will receive one or more free shirts, depending upon the size of your contribution. Blossburg Memorial Library has three new patron computers! All computers have high speed Internet access and Microsoft Office 2007. There will soon be two laptop computers for use by patrons in the library. The library is one of several "hotspots" with free WiFi connetions available. Stop by today to cruise the Internet, borrow a couple of movies, and grab a great book.
The seventh annual Lobster Bake will be held September 12,2009 at the Hillside Rod and Gun Club. Dinners will be served at 3:00 and 5:00. Tickets are priced at $25.00 for single lobster meal and $35.00 for a double serving of lobster. Get your tickets by September 5 by calling Tom at 638-3688 or Chuck at 638-2189. This event benefits the stream cleanup projects of the TCCCC/ Hillside R&G club.
Tom and Wanda Bogaczyk represented our local Kiwanis Club at the Pennsylvania State Kiwanis Convention in Erie. They took with them a themed basket containing many items donated by Tioga County businesses and members of The Blossburg Kiwanis Club.The basket sale raised $5000, which will help support the children's programs throughout the state. Many thanks to all who donated items for our basket. Special appreciation goes to Rural Electric Corp and to Wal Mart for their generous gifts.
