There are several Blossburg birthdays this week: Corey Onks (July 16), Carol Borden (July 16), Ashley Beckett (July 19), and Chase Onks (July 20).

Our sympathies go out to the family of Irma Cretsinger, a dearly loved resident of Morris Run. Irma passed away unexpectedly on July 10. Please pray for Lewis during this difficult time.

TCCCC is pleased to announce they have awarded two $1,000 scholarships this year. Haley Hohenhaus of Wellsboro received the TCCCC Environmental Scholarship. Haley will attend the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, majoring in Environmental Conservation. Graeme Zaparzynski of Mansfield received the TCCCC-sponsored Linda Lutomski Environmental Scholarship. Graeme will attend Slippery Rock University, majoring in Environmental Science. The members of the TCCCC extend congratulations to these two outstanding Tioga County seniors and best wishes for successful careers.

A free movie will be shown on Thursday, July 15, at 7:00PM at the Canoe Camp Church (near Walmart). "Split Estate" is an award-winning, 76-minute documentary highlighting problems with natural gas drilling. This event is sponsored by the United Church of Christ and Citizens Concerned about Natural Gas Drilling.

First United Methodist Church of Blossburg will hold Vacation Bible School from July 18th through July 22nd. Sessions will be held from 6:00PM to 8:30PM. Registration will begin at 4:30 on July 18th with a cook out. All are welcome! For more information, contact the church office at 638-3046.

Michael Pipe, a candidate for Pennsylvania's 5th Congressional District, will be holding a town meeting on July 26. The 6:30PM event will take place at Mansfield University, in the North Hall Community Room. For more information about Michael Pipe, visit http://www.pipeforcongress.com/townhall.

Blossburg's Pool Together organization will be hosting a 5K Run/Walk on August 7 at Island Park. Registration at 7:45-8:45AM, race at 9:00AM. The $15 entry free benefits renovation of Blossburg pool. Plaques will be awarded to overall male and female finishers. Medals awarded for 1st 2nd and 3rd place in all age groups. All race participants will receive a free t-shirt.
