Jeff Everett won the TCCCC sponsored drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate to Cooper Sporting Goods in Mansfield, PA. Visitors to the TCCCC Booth at the Blossburg Coal Festival were asked to complete a brief Environmental Survey to be entered in the drawing that was held the last day of the Festival. You will have another opportunity to participate in the TCCCC Environmental Survey and another drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate at the Wellsboro Laurel Festival. Just stop by the TCCCC Booth and complete the survey form. While there, make sure you check out the displays of the projects proposed for the Fall Brook tributary to the Tioga River. Information about Tioga River reclamation efforts is also posted on the TCCCC Information Center bulletin board located between the Bloss Holiday Market and Lemon's Pharmacy and on the TCCCC website at www.tcccc-inc.org.

From Representative Matt Baker's website: Gov. Ed Rendell recently announced a winning bid of $12.8 billion from Albertis/Citigroup Infrastructure to lease the Pennsylvania Turnpike for 75 years to pay for Pennsylvania's transportation infrastructure needs. Before this lease can take effect, it must be approved by the General Assembly. Soon, I will be asked to vote on the lease and before I do, I would like to hear your opinion on the leasing concept and on the other options available to us. Please take a moment to answer a brief survey at my Web site.
NPHS 8th Grade Social Studies: We have been examining Pennsylvania history prior to and including the Civil War. Students researched American Slavery and the Underground Railroad. It was impressive the local connections found by the students to the Underground Railroad such as two homes that were used in Mansfield. On April 11th, students were treated to a presentation by Mr. Ron Remy, a member of the PA Bucktails Civil War Re-enactment group. Mr. Remy is extremely knowledgeable about the Civil War and gave students a taste of life as a soldier marching on his way to Gettysburg. Students volunteered for Mr. Lincoln's Army and dressed in uniforms, marched, and learned simple commands as soldiers of the day. Students were very attentive during the presentation and gained a snapshot view of what a soldier went through. Many thanks to students that volunteered, particularly the girls.
The Southern Tioga Marching Band program includes a marching band in the fall that performs at football games, competitions and community events in the fall, and an indoor drumline and indoor guard that competes during the spring.
Membership in these groups is open to any Southern Tioga School District Band Member in grades 7-12! You must be committed to attending all rehearsals and performances. The Band is co-directed by Mr. Will Schlosser of Mansfield HS and Mr. Jon Ruth of North Penn HS. Color Guard consists of flag, rifle, sabre and baton and is under the direction of Mrs. Deb Moyer. Anyone wishing to be in Blue Thunder next winter should be a part of marching band this fall.
