Deepest sympathy wishes go out to the families of Margaret (Peg) Lawson and Lenore Pequignot. Both ladies will be missed and thought of fondly.
The Farmer's Market is back! Every Saturday, rain or shine, at the Blossburg plaza from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. So far they have wind chimes, soaps, candles, baked goods, jewelry and plants. Weather permitting, there is a petting zoo with baby animals planned. New vendors are welcome. For more information, contact Tonya at mcnamara@epix.net.
New Coalie Pickman silouettes available! Purchase a primed Coalie Pickman silouette, paint, decorate him, and display him in your yard or business. The design can be silly, serious, artistic, historical or anything in between. The location of all Coalie Pickman's will be advertised for the Coal Festival to help folks discover all the great nooks and crannies of Blossburg. Please display your Coalie Pickman from May 21-28. There are two sizes available, 23" for $10, 33" for $15. Visit Bob Martin's Bloss Hardware to get yours. This promotion is sponsored by Blossburg V.I.B.E. Thanks to the North Penn Industrial Arts class and instructor, Bill Swingle, for cutting and priming the Coalie's.
Blossburg Elementary has been participating in the National Anthem Project sponsored by MENC (Music Educators National Conference). The purpose of the project is to raise awareness of the importance of music in our schools and not only teach the words of our National Anthem to our community, but to encourage everyone to sing instead of listen when it is played in the community, at sport events and in school. On Friday, May 26, at 9 a.m., all 320 students and their teachers will walk to the Blossburg Veterans Memorial downtown and honor local Veterans, Active Military Personnel and Reservists by singing the National Anthem. Mrs. Maslar, the elementary Music teacher, would like to encourage all local Veterans, Active Military Personnel and Reservists to join Blossburg Elementary in singing. This short ceremony will include a few brief comments from teachers and students about the National Anthem, the Military, our Veterans and singing the National Anthem. For more information about the National Anthem Project in Blossburg or if you would like to participate, please contact Rebecca Hemling at (570) 638-2146 or rhemling@southerntioga.org.
