The North Penn spring sports season is finally underway despite the weather! As usual, we have many students out for spring sports this year. At Mansfield we currently have 6 softball and 7 baseball players. They still are practicing indoors, but are anxiously awaiting some nicer weather to get outside.

In track there are a total of 72 student athletes currently training in the gym at North Penn high school and on the streets surrounding North Penn. A few are trekking to the Island Park to work on things such as throwing and jumping. The track itself is still frozen and cannot be used at this time. Of the 72 student athletes, there are 38 girls and 34 boys. The breakdown by schools is 30 for North Penn, 25 from Liberty and 17 from Mansfield. Returning upper class athletes looking forward to another great season are Mark Fidler, Whitney Connolly, Evangeline Krajewski, Kyle Atkinson, Matt Doyle, Camren Smith in the sprints, Samantha Andrews, Krystle Gregory, Adriennne Foresman, Verena Reed, Matt Onks, Clint Livermore, in the hurdles, Dakkari Ayres, Jackie Fredrick, Jenny Kreger, Kyle Atkinson, Jessie Kriner, in the jumps, Bryanna Learn, Olivia Shedden, David Higham, Victor June, Clint Livermore, Mitch Pequignot, Jacob Shedden, Bret Wood and Kevin Wright are the distance runners. Our highskying pole vault returnees are Camren Smith, Josh Russell and Alyssia Dolliver. All in all, we are looking forward to an exciting season in track and field.

Patrick Albor, a senior, has been selected by the faculty and staff at North Penn High School to be honored by the Blossburg Kiwanis Club as the Student of the Month for February. He is the son of Les and Wendy Albor of Covington. Patrick is president of Ski Club and has participated in the instrumental / band program for the past eight years. He is active in the youth group at the Blossburg United Methodist Church and was a representative from North Penn for Youth Leader of Tomorrow. Patrick has raced cars for eleven years and currently races legend cars at Chemung Speedrome. He also enjoys 4-wheeling, skiing, hunting, fishing, and boating. After graduation from North Penn High School, Patrick plans to study mechanical engineering at Alfred University or Elizabethtown College.
