Blossburg News & Views
By Barb Slocum

Happy belated birthday to Dillon Lattimer, who celebrated on April 9. Sorry we missed it, and hope you had a great day!

Several groups were seen hunting for eggs on the sunny Easter Sunday we had. At the First Baptist Church, the kids were a cheerful splash of color and laughter as they searched for candy-filled eggs on the church lawn. At several Blossburg homes, children were seen peeking hopefully under bushes as they carried baskets or bags of colored eggs.

Irma Cretsinger is reportedly on the mend. She is able to get around a bit, but still has a long way to go. Lou would like to thank everyone who has been praying and sending cards. Keep your greetings and well-wishes coming to: Irma Cretsinger, Kramm Health Care and Rehab Center, 743 Mahoning St., Milton, PA 17847.

There will be plenty of delicious food in Blossburg this weekend! The Siloa Luthera Church of Morris Run will be having a chicken barbeque and a bake sale on Saturday, April 18, in front of the Bloss Holiday Market. Halves and full dinners will be available. The Blossburg Kiwanis will be cooking the chicken.

The Blossburg Borough Spring Cleanup is upon us! Items for pickup should be placed on the curb beginning Saturday, April 25. All items must be out by Tuesday night, April 28. All spring cleanup items will be picked up by Friday, May 1. If you do not place your items at the curb or, if they are mixed with the weekly garbage, they will NOT be picked up.

Please remember to comply with the requirements. If any items are not picked up, you may call the borough office at 638-2452 to inquire. In order to comply with landfill requirements, you must adhere to the following rules:
(1) NO TIRES (new regulations from the state)
(2) Limit of two (2) pickup truck loads of trash per household.
(3) No wood (such as remodeling materials) unless cut into short lengths and bundled so that ONE person may pick up. NO WHOLE BUILDINGS.
(4) Grass and leaves must be put into containers (bags) separate from other items. If stones, sticks, etc. are mixed in with grass and leaves, they will not be picked up.
(5) Brush must be cut or broken into small pieces that are easily handled.
(6) Metal must be separated from other items.
(7) Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units will be billed at $5.00, due to regulations at the landfill.

If these requirements are not met, free removal will not be available to you. This is an expensive project; your cooperation is needed if this free program is to be continued. Feel free to call Borough Manager at 638-2452 with any questions. Thanks to everyone who has been helpful in the past: we appreciate your efforts.
