Congratulations to Austin Mundis for making it to the District IV wrestling tournament at Williamsport High School on Friday, February 21st and Saturday, February 22nd.

The North Penn girls’ basketball team finished the season with a loss to Montgomery High in the pigtail round of District IV basketball. The girls completed a season in which they reached districts for the first time in several years. Seniors Lindsay Everett, Kori Watkins and Megan Slater will be sorely missed next year. Returning letter winners Jackie Fredrick, Brianna Bubacz, Jess Bowne, Bridget Konan will headline next year's team. They will be playing for a new coach next year for the first time in 30 plus years.

Long time head coach Larry Smith and long time assistant Tom McNamara have handed in their retirement letters from coaching. Thank you Larry and Tom for a job well done !

This season was another great one for the Panthers. They were able to win the Christmas Tournament and NTL West Championship with a perfect 14-0 record. There were many highlights this season as the Panthers finished the regular season 23-1. Jessie Kriner scored his 1000 point needing 32 points in his final home game. Not only did he do this at home, the Panthers were able to cut down the nets for their second NTL championship in a row!

Senior Panthers this year include Nick Bowne, Jessie Kriner, Kyle Atkinson, Justin Harris, Dane Kurzejewski, John Lamonski, Shane Hobbs, Phil Jennings, and Chris Reese. Sophomores on the team are, Patrick Watkins, Trevor DeRemer, Mackey Stiner, Corey Johnson, and Brian Yaggie.

Congratulations to the North Penn Boys` Basketball team for winning the District IV Class A Championship for the first time in 32 years with a 48-46 win over Shamokin Lourdes on Saturday, February 23, 2008!

Jessie Kriner, a senior, has been selected by the faculty and staff at North Penn High School to be honored by the Blossburg Kiwanis Club as the Student of the Month for January. He is the son of Joe and Kathleen Kriner of Covington.
Jessie is a member of Key Club, National Honor Society, Sports Statistics Club, Intramural Sports Club and Student Council. He participates in basketball, football and track and field. He recently was recognized for scoring 1000 points in his varsity basketball career.
He enjoys coaching elementary basketball and Junior High softball, is active in church activities, and likes to hunt, fish, play table tennis and hangs out with friends.
After graduation from NPHS, Jessie plans to attend Lebanon Valley College to begin a 6 year doctoral program with a major in Physical Therapy.

A food pantry is held the third Monday each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Blossburg. For more information, contact Betty Johnson at (570) 638-2805.

T.O.P.S. (Take off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Blossburg. Weigh-in is at 5 p.m.

Blossburg BINGO! Every Monday bingo is held at St. Mary's Hall, 6:30 p.m.
