Happy belated birthday to Zane Reid, son of Jonathan and Julee Reid and grandson of Debbe Breach. Zane was one year old on March 11th. Birthday greetings also go out to Adam Schultz, who will be 6 on March 19, and to Laura Slocum on March 22.

Condolences are extended to the family of Edgar Krause. He was the brother of Bill (Judy) Krause and Neil (Dorothy) Krause. Edgar's mother is Mabel Krause, who will soon be 96.

American Legion Post 572 in Blossburg will hold its adult Easter party (members only) on March 20, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm. Have a ball hunting eggs, then enjoy a delicious meal! The children's Easter egg hunt (children & granchildren of members) will be on March 27, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm. Prizes and snacks provided. Sign up kids 12 and younger by March 21 at the Legion. For more information about these events, call 638-2481.

The Spring Stream and Roadside Clean-up sponsored by the TCCCC and Hillside Rod & Gun Club has been changed to May 8. Volunteers will meet at the Hillside Rod & Gun Club facility at 8:00 AM. Gloves, vests and trash bags will be provided. Lunch will be provided for all participants.

Friends of the Blossburg Library will have Super Bingo on May 16th at the Blossburg Fire Hall. Doors open at 11:00am, games start at 1:00. Great homemade food and desserts will be available for purchase. The Friends will hold a Book Sale on Saturday, May 29th at the Library.

The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) Agribusiness and Food Specialty Centers will partner with Penn State Cooperative Extension to host a Food for Profit Workshop on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Northern Tier Regional Development & Planning Commission, Towanda.
A variety of experts will present information about food business challenges and advantages, feasibility analysis, business planning, marketing, safe food handling, regulatory agencies, and packaging.
“The SBDC is committed to providing the people of this region with assistance in developing their businesses,” said Elaine M. Tweedy, SBDC Director. “We recognize the challenges that food entrepreneurs face and hope to provide valuable guidance and strategies at this workshop.”
Cost to attend the seminar is $35 per person. The fee includes the seminar, materials, and lunch. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. For more information or to register, please contact the SBDC at 570-941-7588 or email: sbdc@scranton.edu.
