The Reverend Rowena Gibbons, Priest-in -charge, Saint James Episcopal Church, Mansfield will conduct in depth (1and1/2 hours per week) Bible Study classes in Blossburg. Interested persons should call 638-3011 for more information. All are welcome.
The officers for the Hillside Archery League would like to take the time to thank all of you for a successful indoor and 3D season this year. We would also like to thank all of you who helped in the Crumb Family Benefit Spaghetti Dinner; it was a great success and very appreciated by the family. VEGAS NIGHT Tuesdays @ 7pm $2.00 (unless you have a family pass) Possible Kid's Night Tuesdays from 6-7pm for kids
Jeannette Meck represented the Girl Scouts Organization and spoke to us about the large numbers of girls that are involved in Girl Scouts. Presently there are 4 troops in Blossburg, although membership has gone down lately in the Tioga County region. Ms. Meck explained how the organization needs more adult volunteers, as she handed out information explaining the opportunities that are available in the Blossburg area. The group is looking to fill the following positions: Community Coordinator (Troop Recruiter/Organizer), Council Trainers and Positive Role Models for girls from kindergarten age to 17. VIBE will have their next meeting Feb. 15, 6 pm in the lower level of the Blossburg Memorial Library. All are welcome to join us.
Shane Nickerson reported that the Ice Skating Area has been built but the weather has not been much help. The Ice Skating rink was repaired by Mr. Nickerson and Mr. B. Stager after a snow removal accident. But we have had some residents who took advantage of the ice rink and enjoyed skating already this year. The skating area is located next to the green bridge across from the fire hall; skating is free of charge.
The library book club book for Feb. will be "The Last Girls" by Lee Smith. Preschool Story Hour; the Spring Session will be held in the spring. Dates will be noted closer to the time. Please use the Community Room entrance at the rear of the building. Parents are welcome to stay and participate with stories and crafts. Reading is fun for everyone, so don't forget your library card or get one today! Hope you can come and read with us!
Meet the Author The Blossburg Memorial Library presents Local Author Steve Losee Sunday, Feb. 5 from 2pm-4pm. Steve will be discussing his new book To Die and Live. Copies will be available to purchase and have signed by the author. Light refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Friends of the Blossburg Memorial Library; meetings held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the library community room.
