Blossburg News & Views
By Barb Slocum

Happy belated birthday to Staci Onks (Jan 15) and Taylor Beckett (Jan) 19). Sorry we missed you, and we hope you had a great day!

Grace Community of Blossburg has announced some program changes for February. The Sunday service will be moving to 6:30pm. The 7:00pm Friday evening event, formerly called "The ALTERNATIVE," will become "The Refuge". "TruthSeekers" still meets at 7:00pm on Tuesday. Truthseekers is a Bible study designed to explore beyond the modern trends that are being hyped in the media and the traditions which often have pagan roots. Through Truthseekers, we seek to answer questions about the Bible's true level of authority and discover what Scripture actually does say about... everything. This event is open to members of all churches, members of no church, believers and unbelievers alike. For more information contact Steve 638-3021 or sandel@epix.net.

Blossburg proudly announces that we have a published author living among us! Steve Losee has written three exciting novels of suspense. All three titles are available as ebooks, which you can learn about at http://www.readerseden.com/writers/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=434.

A great number of Blossburg citizens and students are feeling relieved and excited after last week's meeting of the Southern Tioga School Board. The board voted to NOT close the North Penn High School. Several Blossburg residents who were at the meeting have asked that this column publicly thank the School Board for this decision. Thank you, Southern Tioga School Board! We want to express our heartfelt appreciation for your decision to keep NPHS open. By doing so, you have shown us that the education and welfare of our students are indeed your first priority. Be assured that Blossburg and the surrounding communities will support your efforts on the long but happy road ahead. We are North Penn!

The monthly meeting of VIBE will be held Wednesday, January 27, from 6:00 until 7:30pm in the Kiwanis building at Island Park. VIBE is a non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing downtown Blossburg. All of our monthly meetings are open to the general public to come in an find out more about our organization, get involved in an action team or start a new project under V.I.B.E. http://www.blossburg.org/vibe.
