Blossburg News & Views
By Barb Slocum

Wishes for a happy anniversary are extended to Ryan and Karen Jones Schultz of Granger Street. They were married 10 years ago on January 1.

Barbie Decker, daughter of Ross and Sandy Roupp in Arnot, is critically ill. She has been transferred to the Harrisburg area, and doctors are working diligently to help her recover. Please keep Sandy, Ross, Barbie, and Wayne in your thoughts and prayers.

Pastor Bob Martin of Calvary Mennonite Fellowship in Morris Run was the guest minister at the First Baptist Church of Blossburg on December 27. His message about Jesus still being the King of Kings included audience participation. As the choir presented "Come On, Ring Those Bells," the congregation rang bells and sang along. Pastor John and Linda Shypulefski are in Texas, and are due to arrive back in Blossburg on January 2.

The winners of VIBE's "Light Up the Holidays" decorating contest have been chosen! Frank & Phun Wasowicz were selected as the winners of the Victorian category, and the Best Overall. Edmund Bogaczyk's home showed the Most Christmas Spirit. The winner of the Whimsical category was Lesley Powers. Marion Griswold was the winner of the Modern category. The Best Business Display went to Window Box Flower Shop. Owner Kathy Hudson and helper Connie Dawes arranged the decorations. VIBE would like to thank everyone who decorated their homes and businesses, making Blossburg absolutely beautiful!

In Arnot, the decorating contest was sponsored by the Bloss Township Recreation Committee. On December 22, the committee traveled throughout Arnot to select the winners (who knew it could take an hour to tour the village of Arnot?!). The Best Overall winners were Dick and Shirley Smith. Joyce Colegrove and Frank Sherant received the title of Most Artistic Use of Lights. The Most Whimsical winner was Terri Sandstrom. Honorable Mentions were awarded to John Mattison, Mark Strange, and Bob Berguson. BTRC holds meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Community Center. The meetings are open to anyone who would like to participate in scheduling fun events for our community. Mark your calendar and make plans to join us for 2010!

The Tioga County Concerned Citizens Committee, Inc. held elections of officers at their December 15 meeting. The following members were elected: Charles Andrews, President; Mike Bogaczyk, Vice President; Joyce Andrews, Secretary. The Treasurer position remains open. Glenda Bogaczyk and Jack Vogler were reelected to 3-year terms on the Board of Directors. The next TCCCC General Membership Meeting will be March 16, 2010.
