Light Up the Holidays Decorating Contest Dec. 21 Decorate your house or business storefront for the holidays and maybe you’ll win a prize from V.I.B.E.! Light Up the Holidays judging will be held Dec. 21, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. everywhere in the borough of Blossburg. Last year’s winners included Bloss Hardware for best business display, Maurie Delinski, 19 Briarpatch Lane, for most Victorian, Edmund Bogaczyk, 236 North Williamson Road, for most whimsical, Barbara Beatty, 111 Schuylkill Street, for most modern, and Lisa & Gary Fidler, 116 Schuylkill Street, for most Christmas spirit.

Schools and Offices will be closed Wednesday, December 24th through Friday, January 2nd. Tuesday, December 23rd -- 1:00 PM dismissal for students

Nicholas Mahonski celebrates his 13th birthday on December 9. Rae Lynne Whitney will be 18 on the 18th. Happy Birthday Nicholas and Rae Lynne!

Congratulations to Corey Johnson from the North Penn Panthers Varsity basketball team for being selected to the tournamernt All Star team at the Troy Tip-Off Tournament held December 5th and 6th 2008 in Troy. Corey is the son of Percy and Paula Johnson of Blossburg.

The St John Neumann Parish Confirmation class completed their weekend Confirmation Retreat. The retreat was based on the novel by CS Lewis “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,” it is an allegory of Christ’s Crucifixion. All the students and the teachers enjoyed participating in the retreat and were appreciative of the support shown by Father Jacek, church groups and the community. The group must now finish their community and religious service objectives and complete their last year of instruction prior to the celebration of Confirmation in the fall of 2009.

Yoga classes are going to be available here in Blossburg starting January 6, 2009. They will be held in the studio behind the former Angelina’s. The class is targeted for beginners however anyone can sign up. No previous experience in yoga is necessary and you do not have to be in shape or flexible to learn and benefit from yoga practice. The class is being taught by Kathleen Thompson the owner of Main Street Yoga in Mansfield. It will be held every Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 6:15 starting January 6th and running through February 10th. The cost is $60 and people can sign up by contacting Kathleen at www.yogamansfield.com or by phone at 660-5873, December 23rd. This is a great way for people to start out the new year!
