Cub Scout Pack 2059 will be having their Christmas party on December 17 at the Bloss Township Recreation Center, beginning at 7:00pm. They invite Arnot residents to join them. Santa will be on hand for photos.

S.O.S. (Save Our Schools) will be hosting a Santa Parade on December 20, at the North Penn High School. The parade will leave the Blossburg fire hall at 4:30, travel down Main Street, and end at the high school. Following the parade, there will be a candlelight rally at the school. Call 638-3141 to register your float or group. Walkers and decorated bikes are also welcome to join. Everyone is invited to participate and help the effort to save North Penn High School.

Have you completed your outdoor decorating? Judging for VIBE's Light Up the Holidays home and business decorating contest will take place on December 20, from 7:00 until 9:00pm. Judges will choose a winner for each category: Victorian (old-style country decorations), Modern (includes inflatable characters and lighting), Whimsical (gingerbread or candy cane lanes, elves, etc.), Best Storefront Display, and the Most Chrismas Spirit (based on a feeling of Christmas magic and warmth).

A Christmas party for the children/grandchildren of American Legion Post 572 members will be held December 19, from 1:00 until 3:00pm. Santa, crafts, and presents will make this event memorable for everyone. The adult party begins at 6:00pm the same evening. Bring a dish to pass and a $15 exchange gift. Sign up for either party at the Post or call 638-2481.

A young family in Covington lost everything in a house fire recently. They are currently staying with family in Canton, but getting their 4-year old autistic daughter to her familiar and much-needed programs is difficult. Donations of clothing, personal hygiene items, monetary gifts and Barbie toys will be greatly appreciated. Clothing sizes needed are: little girl's shoes 9, pants and shirts 5/6; women's shoes 8, pants 18, shirts 1X or 2X; men's shoes 9½, pants 36x30, shirts XL. Call 570-656-6597 to arrange for pickup of donations.
