Tony Shattuck, a local serviceman and former North Penn High School student was wounded on June 26, 2008 in the country of Afghanistan.

Edgar Carlson passed away on June 24, 2008. Mr. Carlson was an outstanding resident of Blossburg, as well as serving as Tioga County Treasurer and as a Pennsylvania State Representative. All councilmembers agreed to make a donation to the Blossburg Memorial Library in his memory.

At the regular monthly V.I.B.E. meeting in July, members elected new officers. Tonya McNamara was elected president, Jill Nickerson was re-elected vice president, Jackie Smith was elected secretary and Kelly Rossell was elected treasurer. Pvt. Austin H. Mundis, USMC, son of the late Mark Mundis and Ralaine Blee, graduated from Marine Boot Camp at Parris Island, SC on October 10, 2008. Grandparents Ralph and Sandy Mundis traveled to SC for Family Day and Graduation. Austin's brother CPL Aaron C. Mundis, USMC is currently serving in Iraq

The Blossburg Borough will hold Halloween on Saturday, November 1, 2008. "New Parade Route and Location for the Judging of Costumes". The parade is at 5:00 P.M. – starting and ending at the former Blossburg Ambulance Building located at the corner of Hannibal and Morris Streets. The parade will proceed West on Hannibal Street – then turn right onto Main Street and proceed North to the intersection of Carpenter and Main Streets – turn right on Carpenter Street – turn right on Morris Street – turn right on Hannibal Street and back to the old Blossburg Ambulance Building, where the judging of costumes will take place. Halloween hours are Saturday, November 1, 2008, 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. PLEASE – ONLY TRICK OR TREAT TO HOMES THAT HAVE THEIR PORCH LIGHTS ON.

Girl Scout Cookie time. Fri Oct 17 – Fri Oct 31 See a local Girl Scout to buy your favorite cookies!! Look for "Cookie Booths" around the area. Cookies are still only $3.50 a box!!

The Southern Tioga Band Aids is open to anyone interested in supporting music in the STSD! The group oversees chaperones, fundraising, and other support for the Southern Tioga Marching Band, the Indoor Percussion Ensemble, and the Indoor Color Guard. Meetings are held the 4th Monday of each month at 7pm in the NPHS Library. Check the Google Calendar for changes to this, and additional events!

The Southern Tioga Percussion Ensemble will be entering it's 3rd year of existence. Formerly known as "Blue Thunder" (we figured out that someone else had that name already) - the STPE is open by audition to Southern Tioga students grades 7-12. The first rehearsal/meeting is Tuesday, November 11th from 6:30-8:30pm at the North Penn Band Room.

The Arnot Presbyterian Church is celebrating their 140th Anniversary. Come join us on Sundays in October. Help us to celebrate 140 years of serving our Lord. We will celebrate each Sunday with a different period in our history. 1870's, 1920's, 1970's, and The Future. On the last Sunday we will celebrate the future, followed by a brunch immediately following the service.
