The big news in Blossburg this week is the Annual Fall Festival that will be held on Saturday, October 24. Beginning at 10:00, the Riverside Plaza parking lot will be filled with food, games, vendors, pumpkin painting, and the popular (and free!) Keith Lindie hayride. New to the festival this year is a Scarecrow Building Contest with cash prizes! For more information or to pre-register, call Barb at 570-656-6597. Grace Community, located on the corner of Main and Carpenter Streets, holds a TruthSeekers Bible study at 7:00 on Tuesday evenings. They are currently discussing whether we are really in the “last days.” For the next few weeks, the Friday evening “ALTERNATIVE Place to Go” will be focusing on spiritual abuse. If you or someone you know has been a victim of an abusing ministry, or if you’re interested in learning more about such practices, please join Grace Community for this weekly event. The annual Pork & Sauerkraut Dinner at Saint Mary’s Church will be held October 25 from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM in the social hall. The price of a meal is $9 (ages 5- 12 pay $4; children younger than 5 eat free! Come fill up with pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and gravy, and much more! Takeouts are available; simply call 638-2783 on the day of the dinner. Proceeds of this event will benefit the Good Samaritan Society.
The 5th annual Blossburg Memorial Library book sale will be held October 19 - 24 in the Community Room of the library. Come browse the books, videos/CDs/DVDs, cassettes, games, and puzzles. This sale is sponsored by The Friends of the Blossburg Memorial Library, and all proceeds go directly to the library. Call 638-2197.
