Date Activity
10/01
  • Collect garbage with dump truck. Part to repair garbage truck won't be in until tomorrow.
  • Pressurize in-line booster pump #1 at Bellman filter. Will get electric connected tonight.
  • Dig up curb box on Schuylkill Street and determined water service line leak was on homeowner's side of curb box. They will get repaired.
  • Haul sludge from stp to NTSWA all day.

10/02
  • Haul sludge from stp all day.
  • Pick up part to repair garbage truck. Have truck operating in afternoon. Picked up garbage in dump truck in morning
  • Kappe Assoc. in to do yearly maintenance on pumps and Comminutor at stp pump house Replace motor and gear box on Comminutor.
  • Pull in-line booster pump #2 at Bellman filter and take to Wagner Sales to be checked out. Hopefully, motor is all right and only have to clean it up.
  • Authority meeting-Jeff Harman's last meeting.
  • Jack Eckman elected Chairman. Mike Stoudt-Vice Chairman. Dave Jones attended first meeting to fill vacancy on Authority.

10/03
  • Put up exterior lights on pole barns at Boro garage so Dave Jones can get wired into electric.
  • Haul sludge from stp.
  • Talk to Dave Mitchell about getting cost estimate to do work on Veteran's Monument.
  • Kappe Assoc. working at stp pump house.

10/04
  • Finish hauling sewer sludge from stp stockpile. Try and clean out drying beds in couple of weeks and haul to NTSWA also.
  • Clean geotextile out of drying beds at stp and put down new material. Repair bad section of wall between beds.
  • Dave Jones ran electric to new lights on garage pole barn. Lights should illuminate Boro yard so it will be easier to load salt and cinders this winter.
  • Kappe Assoc. working at stp pump house.

10/05
  • Pulled trickling filter at stp again and found another broken ball bearing. Put new bearings in unit and put back together.
  • Kappe Assoc. finished work at stp pump house. Rep. thinks he may be able to get another motor and gearbox from town that we can use as a spare for new unit he just put on Comminutor the other day. Used unit is only 2 years old and another town took out of service when they modified their plant.
  • Clean storm drains in case we get rain this weekend.

10/08
  • Off for Columbus Day.

10/09
  • Dave Jones at garage to run wire for lights on pole barns.
  • Fix water valve cover boxes on corner of Ruah & Seymour Sts.
  • Then start digging out 2RC on Ruah St. for blacktop.
  • Barricade off road where dirt was dug out.

10/10
  • Dave finished wiring light inside pole barn.
  • Rent roller from Montoursville and start blacktopping edge of Ruah St. where new 6" DIP water line was installed this summer.
  • Called Mead's in Wellsboro to repair garage doors for Fire Co.

10/11
  • Finish blacktopping on Ruah St. Then pave on Davis St. where water and sewer service was installed to new home.
  • Work on paperwork for Kelly subdivision and take application to North Central Sewage Agency.

10/12
  • Dig out berms on Taber St. by old Rt. 15 that keep washing out. Blacktop both areas, then take roller back to Montoursville.
  • Contractor in to look at Veteran's Monument. Will submit price quote for next Council meeting.
  • Dave Jones checked out electric services to old well pump at NPHC on Ruah St.

10/15
  • Topsoil and seed yards on Ruah St. that were dug up during new water line installation.
  • Budget meeting in morning.

10/16
  • Remove rest of paperwork from old Boro Hall and put in cellar at new Hall.
  • Lisowski installed new water service to home on Schuylkill St and filled in hole we left open on 10/1.
  • Call IDI about bills owed them for Bellman filter repair work.

10/17
  • Repair water line in pool so water can be turned on for Homecoming festivities this Friday.
  • Call for rental prices for screen to make topsoil stockpile and sift out gravel for gabion wall on St. Mary's St.
  • Put rolled roofing on shed at garage which holds spare sewer fittings.
  • Meet North Central Sewage Agency at Kelly property for subdivision application.

10/18
  • Clean up Boro garages to make room for snow equipment.
  • Remove old shrubs in front of Water garage and topsoil area.
  • Meeting with Authority and S. Bray about IDI bills.
  • Shovel sludge at stp. Hope to clean beds before winter and haul sludge to NTSWA.
  • Take picnic tables downtown for Octoberfest this weekend.

10/19
  • Disconnect water and sewer to Stroud's old home on Rt. 15. Will be torn down later this fall.
  • Shovel rest of sludge at stp. Ready to haul to NTSWA.
  • Talk to Max Chilson about new home to be built on Granger St. Have to plan for water and sewer connections.

10/22
  • Winterize pool at Island Park.
  • Haul last 31 tons of sludge from stp to NTSWA. They rented manure spreader to distribute sludge at landfill.
  • Call Mike Stoudt to repair starter switch for motor at stp pump house.
  • Budget meeting.

10/23
  • Take fittings apart at old NPHC well. Order parts so can re-plumb piping for pump testing well site.
  • Clean ditch on Parkhurst St.
  • Dan and I go to class in Wellsboro on terrorism of Municipal Water Supplies.

10/24
  • Talked to Ward Mfg. and they purchased old Rudinski home on Gulick St.
  • Will tear down in spring of next year.
  • Clean up debris thrown out of old Boro Hall by firemen while remodeling.
  • Work on bills owed to IDI for Bellman filter work.
  • Take Kelly subdivision information to Covington Planning Commission Chairperson.

10/25
  • Send 2 employees to Water and Sewer math class in Williamsport.
  • Work at garage sealing cracks around doors and windows before cold weather.
  • Dan and I go to Mansfield to meet with local managers to discuss equipment we each have that may be of benefit to each other.

10/26
  • Fill potholes in dirt roads around town.
  • Put up posts for street signs on Adam Drive and Joseph St.
  • Start cleaning Boro stock yard by tennis course at park.
  • Pick up Kelly subdivision paperwork from Covington and bring back to town for Blossburg Planning Commission.
  • First load of salt for winter was delivered.

10/29
  • Flush hydrants on S. Wmsn. Rd., Gulick St., Main St., and Route 15. Dirty water complaints on Davis St.
  • Clean up Boro yard by tennis courts.

10/30
  • Flush hydrants on side hill. Everything flushed good enough for this year.
  • Budget meeting all morning.
  • Second load of salt delivered in afternoon.
  • Ward Mfg. in as they want to tear down Rudinski home this year have to get water and sewer disconnected.
  • Planning Commission meeting - Review Kelly subdivision by stp. Review bleacher grant application to DCNR.

10/31
  • Go to Mill Hall to get load of cold patch for stockpile.
  • Pick up concrete barriers behind Acorn Market and take to garage and build loading ramp.
  • Wagner pump delivered rebuilt in-line booster pump #2 to Boro Hall. We took to filter plant.
  • Take Kelly subdivision paperwork to Kerry Gyekis for review. Once Boro Council and Covington Supervisors have signed maps. I will mail maps back to Kerry.
  • Take Kelly maps to Covington Supervisors for their 11/7 meeting. Will pick back up for Council meeting later.

11/01
  • Cold patch roads around town.
  • Locate water service leak and leaking hydrant on Gulick St. which Water Co. has to repair.
  • Dave Jones checked out electric to old NPHC well pump. Turn on well and pump water for 2 hours. Water level in well and holds at 47' while pumping +90 GPM. Will call Scott Bray to discuss.
