1-3
  • Major water break occurred sometime this morning. 1-MG tank was full yesterday, but by today the water level had dropped to 18'. Lost about 600,000 gallons of water before leak was located on the main line to the R & G Club well. Isolate leak and repair. Had to place 5' of 8" pipe. Turn well on after leak was repaired so 1- MG tank can be refilled.

  • Salt roads because of freezing rain.
  • Pick up Christmas trees around town.
  • Water level in 1-MG storage tank up to 24'. Should be full by middle of week.

  • Snow showers off and on all day. Salt roads where necessary.
  • Fence contractor start installing fence on new posts at stp.
  • Street Committee meeting to review new 911 re-addressing.
  • Penelec install pole along Bear Creek for new F/A Building.

  • Salt and cinder roads around town where necessary.
  • Fence contractor install fence at stp.
  • Work on coding Authority bills.

  • Listen for leaks around town. Found 4 possible areas to look for leaks. Will look up maps and locate curbs so we can listen on valves.
  • Fence contractor install gates for fence at stp. Put locks on gates.

  • Fence contractor finish up stp fence.
  • Work at Boro Hall re-wiring upstairs room.

  • Salt areas on roads where needed.
  • Locate water leak on service line to Gulick St. home. Will contact homeowner to get repaired.
  • Sinkhole on edge of S. Wmsn. Rd. caused by water leak. Put barricades around hole and will repair leak tomorrow.
  • Meeting with FCNB about pensions.
  • Work on electric at Boro Hall.

  • Repair water leak on S. Wmsn. Rd. Had to replace leaking water service under road.
  • Snow off and on all day. Salt roads where necessary.
  • Electrical brownout to part of town. Penelec had problem repaired in a couple of hours.

1-14
  • Saved about 25 GPM from water leak repaired yesterday on S. Wmsn. Rd.
  • Have Dave Jones check two 5 HP motors at stp which are not working. Think electrical brownout last night may have burned up motors. Will pull motors and get repaired.
  • Work on Boro Hall wiring.
  • Pick up rest of Christmas trees around town.
  • Light snow falling all day. Salt that was already on roads keeping them passable. Will have crew come in early tomorrow to plow.
  • Ben Jones check furnace at Boro Hall. One unit not working properly.

  • Crew in early to plow and cinder roads around town . Temperature too cold for salt to work.
  • Work on Boro Hall electric.
  • Work on organizing paperwork for next Planning Commission meeting scheduled for 1/27. Will mail out material to members tomorrow.

  • Crew in early to clean snow off Main St.
  • Install small headlights on front bumper of garbage truck.
  • Meet with Dalton Insurance to review questionnaire for Borough/ Authority insurance.
  • Finish electrical work upstairs in Boro Hall. Only have to connect wires into fuse box in basement.

  • Water leak in old Boro Hall ruined Council Room.

1-19
  • Scrape snow off streets then salt roads.
  • Reverse went out in 1-ton salt truck transmission. Take to garage for repair.
  • Meet with engineers about power surges/outages in Blossburg.
  • Install repaired sludge pump in pit at stp, then remove two 5 HP motors from another manhole pit. Take motors to repair shop.
  • Penelec working at new F/A Building on new electrical service.

  • School lights on old Rt. 15 not working properly. Call Mike Stoudt to repair.
  • Clean out debris from Council Room at old Boro Hall that was destroyed from water leak above ceiling.
  • Electric power turned on to new F/A Building, so water meter installation can be scheduled.
  • Clean up basement in new Boro Hall so shelving can be built to store Boro records.
  • COG meeting at Wellsboro Court House to discuss new building inspections.

1-21
  • Work in Boro Hall basement.
  • Review general account coding for sewer accounts. Looks like they are ready to put in computer.
  • Mike Stoudt at office starting to organize building permit information.

1-22
  • Check meter installation for new F/A Building. Have to order some more fittings to do the job.
  • Work in new Boro Hall basement building shelves.
  • Locate water leak on 2" steel line at intersection of Parkhurst & Hannibal Sts.
  • Meeting with PSAB to discuss Boro pensions.
  • Tonya, Ray and Tom attend TCAB meeting in Mansfield dealing with new building codes.

  • Locate water curbs around town that we don't have maps for.
  • Work on shelving in new Boro Hall basement.
  • Suspected water leak in driveway on Granger St. is definitely a leak. Section of driveway caving in. Put metal plate over hole until we have a chance to repair the leak.

1-26
  • Snow in morning. Salt and cinder roads in morning with single axle dump truck until 1 ton dump truck is repaired.
  • Dig up driveway on Granger St. and repair water leak. Discover that bolts on old full circle clamp had deteriorated, which let water leak from under band. Replace full circle clamp with new clamp. Estimate water leak at about 20 GPM.
  • Dave Jones check out recirculating pump #2 at stp. Motor pulling high amps so will leave off until we have a chance to check out the problem. Will operate recirculating pump #1 to pump water to tricking filter.

1-27
  • Type up responses from Street Committee on 911 re-addressing questionnaire and mail back to Chester Engineers.
  • Crew in early to plow snow.
  • Install 1" meter at new F/A building.
  • Planning Commission meeting - no quorum to discuss Ward Mfg. rezoning proposal and Ron Steffen variance.

1-28
  • Crew in early to plow snow.
  • Frozen water to home on Taylor St. Will dig up curb tomorrow, to verify whose problem it is.

1-29
  • Dig up water curb on Taylor St. Water frozen under road, is Authority's problem. Try to unthaw line, but only unthaw 12" of service. Cover hole for night, insulate and put electric heater in hole.
  • Crew in early to clean snow off streets.

1-30
  • Borrow heated pressure washer from Stuart Lisowski to unthaw water service on Taylor St. Backfill hole, then pile snow over area to help insulate.
  • Work on paperwork for grandfathering UCC inspectors through L & I.
