  • Snow off and on all day. Salting roads to keep them from freezing up.
  • Rassmussen planted low shrubs around flagpole spotlight at Boro Hall.
  • Haul sludge from Bellman Filter basement.
  • Work on water lines to garage bathroom.
  • Take information on land purchase by stp to Jack & Pam Kelly. Left paperwork for them to look at.

  • Work in garage bathroom.
  • Unpack new recirculating pump for stp and take down to install in pit. Have to cut pipes to fit, so will finish up on Wednesday.
  • Dave & Bev Jones bring repaired Boro computer back to office and set up. Replaced existing 3GB with 20GB.

1-1-2002
  • Water leak in meter pit at Mitchell's trailer park. Shut water off and repair tomorrow.

1-2
  • Dig up meter pit at Mitchell's trailer park and replace ruptured expansion tank.
  • Discuss Growing Greener grants with Boro engineer. Grants are not allowed for permitting or construction of new water sources, so not able to use for new well site.
  • Replace garage windows that were broken by BB gun last weekend.
  • Install new recirculating pump in pit at stp.
  • Authority meeting-vote to give delinquent water and sewer customers until 4/1/02 to pay up bills or be shut off.

1-3
  • Mark catch basins around town that are hard to find after snowstorms with fiberglass stakes.
  • Turn off Island Park frost-free spigots for winter. Someone leaving on and water freezing up parking lot by Recreation Building.
  • Probation will send person to work community service next Monday.
  • Meeting between STSD and Booster Club about football field lights.
  • M. Stoudt wired up second booster pump at Bellman filter.

  • Take down Christmas lights and store in Boro Hall basement.
  • Start collecting Christmas trees around town.
  • Reverse gear in old Boro pickup broke. Will take to Cleveland Auto shop for repair next week.
  • Left message with Dan Strine about electrical cost comparison at Sportsman's well.
  • Clean ditch on Parkhurst St. so storm water doesn't run out onto road.
  • Dave & Bev Jones take Authority computer so they can transfer information onto better computer that Authority is going to buy.

1-6
  • Snow start late in afternoon. Ray salt roads first then I called crew in to plow roads at night.
  • Dave and Bev Jones delivered Authority computer to office and set up.

1-7
  • School closed because of snow.
  • Crew work all night plowing snow. Work until noon, and then come back in at night to clean snow off Main St.
  • Took old Boro truck to Cleveland Auto for them to work on transmission.
  • Council meeting-vote to hire Bob Kelly full time.
  • Possibility that Brian Laverty may be leaving town. Should know for sure at the next Council meeting.

  • Community Service person start today.
  • Lost 4WD in Dan's truck. Take to Cole & Burd for repair.
  • Dave Jones brought old Authority computer to garage. Will set up in employee shed and use to inventory water, sewer and Borough stock.
  • Check out Employee Personnel Policy.

1-9
  • Freezing rain in morning. Out cindering and salting roads. Cinder sidewalks then pick up Christmas trees and clean snow off catch basins.
  • Cole-Burd repaired 4WD in Dan's truck. Go down and pick up in afternoon.

  • Pick up Christmas trees and clean catch basins.
  • Take old metal table from Boro Hall basement to employee shed and set up computer on it.
  • Mount light in garage bathroom.
  • Dan and I attend Local Managers meeting in Towanda with PRWA. They are trying to set up a place in this area to put equipment for local communities to use.

  • Freezing rain last night. Salt and cinder roads. Cinder walks around town then pick up more Christmas trees.
  • Mike Stoudt had to order new electrical parts for stp pump house. Original items are wearing out.
  • Meeting about Boro Personnel Policy at Boro Hall.
  • Finish up delinquent water and sewer calculations and mail out 89 letters with current water bills.

  • Start putting shower stall together for garage bathroom.
  • Work on maintenance schedule for garbage truck and gave to Rich for review.
  • Cut firewood for garage.

1-15
  • Start installing conduit for garage bathroom electric. Work on partition wall for garage shower.
  • Contract for section of new Route 15 by stp to be bid out later this month.
  • Dan to compare chemical costs for water and sewer plants with another distributor we found out about that sells to Athens and Towanda Authorities.

1-16
  • Finish up shower partition wall and start on ceiling.
  • Work on equipment.
  • Go to Wellsboro for revised paperwork on land purchase by STP from Kelly.
  • Have to set up Watershed meeting on 2/6 at 6:30 PM.

1-17
  • 1"-2" snow in morning. Plowed a little, but salt took care of most of snow.
  • Work on putting gabion baskets together at garage in preparation of St. Mary's wall project in spring.
  • Meeting with hydro, Jack Eckman, Scott Bray and Dan Grinnell about study of old well on Ruah St.
  • Took signed papers for land purchase by STP to Cox office so information can be recorded at Court House.

1-18
  • Pick up another 3 pickup loads of Christmas trees.
  • Dan start work on yearly water reports.
  • Work on electrical conduit for garage bathroom.
  • Meet with Senator Joe Scarnati at Boro Hall. He took over Senator Madigan's prior area after redistricting.

1-19
  • Snow start in morning. Salted roads held up good until afternoon, when heavy snow started again. Call in crew to plow at night.

1-21
  • More snow in morning. Salt roads in morning then plow off slush in afternoon.
  • Finish electrical conduit run to garage bathroom. Call Dave Jones about wiring bathroom tomorrow.
  • Talk to Williamson Land Co. about storm water management for commercial property on old Rt. 15.
  • Send information on Ruah St. well to another hydrologists in Towanda.

1-22
  • Dave Jones work with Boro employee to wire up garage bathroom. Talk to Dave about wiring for rest of garage. Will try and do a little at a time.
  • Temperature raising and melting snow. Clean off catch basins and clean snow off Main, Carpenter and Hannibal Sts. so ice will not form when temperatures drop at night.

1-23
  • Dave Jones at garage to design electrical conduit runs. Work with Boro employee to run conduit for receptacles around work bench and tool room.
  • Install meter pit on Taylor Run blowoff so water can be accounted for in yearly water reports.
  • Larry Lock Smithing at Boro Hall to discuss security measures around town.
  • Peg Darby called and said water is cleaner since Authority started running blowoff on Hannibal St. Order parts needed so meter pit can be installed on blowoff next week.
  • Deliver preliminary wellhead reports to Committee. Next meeting is set for 2/6 @ 6:30 PM.

1-24
  • Mount toolbox on garbage truck so Rich can remove loose items in cab.
  • Pick up one more load of Christmas trees.
  • Install headlights, with turn signals, on 1 ton plow for better visibility during snowstorms.
  • Pump # 1 at STP pump house is turning harder than other 2 pumps. Will disconnect drivershaft from motor so we can determine if motor or pump is starting to set up.
  • Judge Dalton rule against second curative amendment submitted by lawyers for proposed landfill on Barney's Hill.

1-25
  • Order 23 more gabion baskets for St. Mary's Street wall so we can put together before project is started.
  • Dave Jones shows Bob where to install electric conduit runs at garage so he can do as time allows.
  • Repair water leak on 4" CIP water main at intersection of Ruah and Carpenter Streets. Estimate +20 GPM leak.
  • Finally locate distributor for flag posts and bases for Council Room. Order items needed.
  • Mayor discuss making up a "Wish List" of projects needed around town and submitting to TCDC to see if any grant funds are available for any project. Mayor to bring up at Council meeting.

1-28
  • Work in water garage organizing water fittings.
  • Cold patch road on Carpenter St. where water leak was repaired last Friday.
  • Meeting with PaDot to discuss putting weight limit on roads in Blossburg and what has to be done.
  • Recreation meeting. Coal Festival people in to discuss carnival. Booster Club proceeding with bleachers at park.

1-29
  • Dan and I attend PA. Rural Water class at Recreation Building on Daily Monitoring reports and Chapter 94 reports for STP.
  • Cut 4 trees along Island Park Road that Ray Kaminski had marked. Will chip up branches once we get chipper from NTSWA.
  • Haul sludge from Bellman Filter.
  • Check out sludge pump in afternoon and discover why discharge pipes came apart. Repair problem.
  • Discuss prices for treatment plants chemicals with another supplier. Costs a lot lower than prices from current distributor. Order some material from new company.
  • Call 5 companies about backhoe prices.
  • Work on electric conduit runs in garage.
  • Chemung Supply deliver gabion baskets.
  • Call 2 employees to come in early tomorrow to salt and cinder.

1-30
  • Freezing rain in morning. Crew out early to salt and cinder roads.
  • Repair piping on sludge pump at Bellman filter. Jim Smith weld braces under 6" valve.
  • Put gabion baskets together in garage.
  • Receive letter from Freda Weller resigning as Tax Collector because of health problems, call Council members and advise.
