2017 Spring Cleanup Week – May 1st to 5th

SPRING CLEANUP WEEK

FOR BLOSSBURG BOROUGH RESIDENTS ONLY

MAY 1st through 5th, 2017

Items for pickup should be put out on Saturday or Sunday night, April 29-April 30, 2017. All items must be out by Tuesday night, May 2, 2017. All spring cleanup items will be picked up by Friday, May 5, 2017.

If you do not place at curb or – if items for free pickup are mixed with weekly garbage, it will NOT be picked up.

Please remember to comply with the requirements. If any items are not picked up, you may telephone the Borough, with any questions.

The following list is what must be followed as the Borough must comply with rules at the landfill, also.

 

  1. LIMIT of two (2) pickup truckloads of trash per household.
  2. NO TIRES (new rules from state: only certain stickered vehicles allowed to take tires, this is not a Borough rule).
  3. NO ELECTRONICS such as computers, printers, TVs, etc.
  4. NO WOOD such as remodeling materials unless cut into short lengths and bundled so that ONE person may pick up. NO WHOLE BUILDINGS.
  5. GRASS AND LEAVES: If you have leaves from yard cleanup, place the leaves and grass cuttings in a separate container-bags, etc. IF STONES, ROCKS, STICKS are mixed in with grass and leaves, they will not be picked up.
  6. BRUSH MUST BE CUT OR BROKEN INTO SMALL PIECES WHICH MAY BE EASILY HANDLED.
  7. METAL MUST BE SEPARATE.

 

Refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioning units will be billed at $5.00 each due to regulations at landfill.

If requirements are not met, free removal will not be available to you.

Community Day – July 9th Fireworks and More

Saturday, July 9th, 9 am to 10 pm – Island Park, Blossburg.  Join the Coal Festival Committee for a day of fun, food, music, a cornhole tournament, fireworks and more!

If you think you have the best BBQ in town, enter the rib or wing cookoff and prove you have what it takes! To register or with questions, contact Annette at 570-404-4498. Cookoff starts at 1:00.

Are you a vendor and want to reserve your space at the Community Day? Contact Annie at 570-404-0282 to reserve your space. Vendor booths open at 9:00 a.m. All vendors MUST be set up by 11:00. There is $20 fee per 10×10 space. (Deposit will be refunded if you clean up your space before you leave. One vendor per company.)

Notice – Green and Blue Flags in your yard

**NOTICE**

The Blossburg Municipal Authority
will be marking water curbs and valves
with blue flags, as well as sewer manholes
located along roads & in yards with green
flags during the months of
February and March.

Once completed, RCAP Solutions
through grant funding will map
Blossburg’s entire water and sewer systems
using satellite technology.

Please DO NOT pull the blue and green flags
out of the ground until the work is completed.

Island Park Spring Cleanup – May 7th, 2016

Island Park Spring Cleanup
May 7, 2016
Rain Date: May 14, 2016
Starting Time: 8 am

Everyone is invited to come to Island Park on May 7, 2016 to help cleanup the Island Park. Anyone and Everyone is asked to come lend a hand. Please bring your own garden tools – rake, shovel, gloves, etc. – which you may want to use during the day. Please rake debris into piles so it can be removed easily. Papers, etc. can be put in the garbage cans at Island Park. If there is bad weather on May 7, 2016 – the cleanup will be on May 14, 2016. Any questions, telephone the Blossburg Borough Office at 570-638-2452. This is great community activitiy. Thanks for your help!

Decorate your house or business storefront for the holidays and maybe you’ll win a prize from V.I.B.E.! Light Up the Holidays judging will be held Dec. 18, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. everywhere in the borough of Blossburg. Prize donations are welcome – contact vibe@blossburg.org

The “Light up the Holidays!” contest is free of charge and open to every resident of Blossburg. You don’t even need to sign up!  Just decorate your house or business and you’re in.

Blossburg V.I.B.E. members will select 4 residential winners and 1 business winner.
